It has been a rough week for Twitter and its users. The site has been crashing sporadically for days, sometimes for several hours at a time, due to technical glitches that involved programming errors and the introduction of a new location feature, Twitter Places.

Twitter said in a blog post late Tuesday that from the perspective of site outages and stability, “it’s been Twitter’s worst month since last October.”

One major outage occurred Monday night when Twitter tried to introduce a software upgrade. A brief update on the Twitter status blog explained that the company’s engineers were working to resolve the issue, and service was finally restored, albeit temporarily, by 7:11 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday. World Cup of Creativity: What Position Do You Play?

In a conversation with illustrator Christoph Niemann a while back, he argued that nearly every creative conundrum can easily be dealt with using a sports metaphor. Considering some of our favorite books are by artist/athletes, we tend to agree. In honor of World Cup mania, we decided to examine different creative working styles through the lens of soccer positions – and the personas that go with them.

Forwards: The architects.
Leading the charge, forwards live for the glory of innovation – the big score. They are pro-risk, self-starters, who have little trouble making hard decisions. They’re not afraid to proceed full speed ahead, and risk everything for the sake of maximum return.

The 10 World Cup Players Worth More Than $25 Million

The World Cup is happening right now in South Africa and with so many players from 32 different countries it’s a bit difficult to keep track of who is quality and who is not.

We’ve picked ten of the top players from the tournament who have been bought and sold for massive transfer fees in the last few years.

For those not in on the soccer lingo, a transfer fee is the price a club pays to purchase a player from another club (this includes an approximately 15% fee for agents, which inflates the market and makes agents pursue more and more transfers).

The 10 Stadiums of the 2010 World Cup

As a good Brazilian I’m a soccer lover, and as everyone should know I’m also an admirer of good architecture. In this case, as we are getting closer to the World Cup in Africa, I decided to make a collection showing the beautiful stadiums that were built for this event, which is certainly one of the biggest sportis events in the world.

I can say I’m already starting my stock of popcorn and Coca-Cola (and a little beer) to watch the games and of course honor the architecture of the stadiums that should serve as inspiration to us Brazilians for 2014. Many were still unfinished in the photos (taken from the site FIFA ) but they give us a good idea of what we can expect in terms of comfort and technology.

Now prepare your sofas and warm the mood for the show which begins on June 11. But before that you should check it out where the teams will play in that list that I separated. Oh, be prepared, Robinho and Kaka will bring the Hexa from Brazil!

Green Point Stadium – Cape Town

One of the most artistic football venues in South Africa, the newly-built Green Point Stadium is situated in one of the much sought-after areas in the city of Cape Town. Green Point Stadium is one of the two semi-final venues for the FIFA World Cup™.

Nike Kicks Off World Cup Campaign on Facebook

Nike today kicked off its FIFA World Cup campaign with a 10-minute film on Facebook, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney and other top soccer stars.

The video, viewable only when a visitor clicks the “Like” button, includes a 3-minute advertisement, called “Write the Future,” with some of those top stars. It intersperses on-field action with reaction from viewers all over the world. One vignette shows Rooney emerging from his home with a thick beard, and then overcoming doubters by winning the Cup for England and hugging the Queen. Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant and Homer Simpson also make cameos. That spot will eventually roll out on TV programming in 32 countries. Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, Ore., handles.

In June, Nike also plans to roll out an Elf Yourself-type online experience that lets consumers generate ripple videos and visuals from their own photos.
