Grolsch (Redesigned)

Today Grolsch and CARTILS will reveal the new graphic design for all bottles, cans and other packaging for the iconic Grolsch brand. The design will be introduced into the Dutch market this week. The new packaging will be hitting the store shelves worldwide beginning March. SABMiller teamed up with CARTILS, the well-known international branding and packaging design consultancy, in order to give the brand a more prominent look and feel. The primary focus was on the creation of a consistent worldwide visual identity, which emphasises the brand values as well as increasing the standout factor.

The most important solution was found in the development of the reinforced image carrier, the ‘Grolsch brand badge’. Gaston van de Laar, Group Director Client Services at CARTILS explains: “After winning the pitch we translated the brand strategy into a coherent design strategy, resulting in creative solutions that serve a strong international brand. The new image carrier reinforces the Grolsch brand values. It provides a more fresh, robust and dynamic look.” “And above all”, Ronald van Amerongen, Global Brand Director Grolsch continues, “Grolsch has a rich heritage and we believe the new packaging shows off the brand’s story of quality, attention to detail and pride in standing out from the crowd. In addition, we want to revitalise Grolsch to increase stand-out on the beer shelf.”

The ‘brand badge’, with the rejuvenated logo, embodies the values the iconic Grolsch brand stands for: independence, craftsmanship, authenticity and a premium feel. But more importantly, it shows a brand world that revolves around beer with character. To emphasise this world, the packaging consistently us

To emphasise this world, the packaging consistently uses a vivid green background, in which the characteristic ‘G’ prominently stands out.

Van de Laar adds: “We were honoured to team up with Grolsch on the redesign of their iconic brand, a brand that we’ve worked for a decade ago in the Netherlands. It is satisfying that, with our current international expertise, we have been able to create a look and feel that fits this Global Flagship Brand.”   More images… Continuar leyendo «Grolsch (Redesigned)»

Brazil now second biggest country on Twitter, UK fourth

According to a study from research firm Semiocast while the US is still easily first place on Twitter in terms of accounts, with around 107.7 million in total, Brazil is now the second biggest nation on the microblogging service.

There are now 33.3 million Brazilians with Twitter accounts, which is enough to push it passed Japan on 29.9 million.

That said while Brazilians have swarmed to Twitter they do not make as much noise as the Japanese who tweet much more. As reported recently Japan is the only country in the world where Twitter has a higher number of monthly unique visitors than Facebook.

The Semiocast report analysed 383 million Twitter user profiles created before January 1st 2012 and used its proprietary platform and tools to process user profiles in order to determine the location of each user using all available information (free-form location declared in user profile, time zone, language used to post tweets and GPS coordinates for the very few concerned tweets). Not much more than that (I’m sure your local blogs will share with you the local prices in drachmas, pesos, pfennigs or whatever it is Sweden uses and we’ll put them here when we grab them) but get in line now. After all, World Cup is over so you guys have plenty of time.

Simon, our local Australian, reports that he expects it to cost “It’s usally about $1000 for the 32GB” and he is so happy but he told us “I wish it ran Android.” Dream on, Simon! Continuar leyendo «17 more countries get the iPhone 4 on Friday»

Report: India, Mexico, Spain Have the Most Businesses Profiting Through Social Media

The Regus survey asked business leaders not only whether they had achieved any customer wins using social networking, but also whether they believed the channel was effective enough to be awarded its own portion of marketing budget. logo200A new survey [pdf] commissioned by workplace solutions provider Regus revealed that 40% of businesses globally have successfully leveraged social media tools for business development. For US companies, that figure is 35%, below the level of many nations with significantly smaller overall economies and placing it 9th overall.

Consumers Praise Store Brands

– Mark Dolliver, Adweek
Respondents to a 23-country survey largely agreed that store brands are at least as good as national brands in many respects.

Released yesterday by Ipsos Marketing the Consumer Goods poll (conducted last November through this January) found 89 percent of respondents saying store brands are «the same as or better than» national brands when it comes to «providing a good value for the money.»

But it’s not just that they’re seen as a bargain. Large majorities of respondent also said store brands are at least the equal of national brands in «offering products that meet my needs» (87 percent), «offering products that are good for the family» (86 percent), «offering food products that taste good» (81 percent) and «offering home products that work well» (81 percent).

Another indication that store brands have shed the fly-by-night aura they had in years past: 80 percent of respondents agreed that they’re as good as or better than national brands at «offering products I trust.» Likewise, 73 percent said they’re at least as good at «offering high-quality products.»

Smaller majorities rated store brands as highly as national brands in «offering innovative products» (69 percent) and «having appealing packaging» (65 percent).

Besides the U.S., countries covered in the survey included Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Sweden, Britain, Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Turkey, India, China, Japan, South Korea and Australia.
