New fashion campaign lets users decide what’s sold

We’ve seen crowdsourcing and voting campaigns done before in the fashion world, often to great effect but fashion site brandalley.co.uk has taken that a step further by allowing their users to decide which designs actually get commissioned and sold on the site. Their new fashion site was previewed late last year and has now gone live to the public. The campaign takes place in a section of the site called ‘Le Lab and the concept is fairly simple. The latest creations are showcased on the site and public votes allow you to see which designs/designers have received the most votes. The designs that gather 2000 votes are sent forward for consideration by Brand Alley, to go through to an actual launch :

In Want of Things We Can Touch

One of my favorite ad campaigns out there in the wild right now is Levi’s “We Are All Workers” from Wieden and Kennedy.

Levi’s_We are all workers

Each piece consists of a beautiful black and white homage to the workingman, complimented by powerful, Karl-Marx-approved slogans like: “Everyone’s work is equally important” and  “We are all workers.”

My favorite is “Made Strong for the New Work.”  Which features a series of rugged individuals who, I presume, need some seriously sturdy pants to tackle some of the hard-typing, click-driving “new work” of today’s information economy.  John Henry would be proud.

It’s pretty amazing to see a brand parading a nation of workers while politicos fear monger about an impending socialist takeover – but I think Levi’s is on to something here.  And they’re hardly alone.  Jeep is out with a similar campaign touting that “The Things We Make, Make Us.” Leer más “In Want of Things We Can Touch”

Corporate Website Design: Creative and Beautiful Solutions

What do corporate websites have in common with other people’s children? Three things: they have their charm, like finger-paintings on the refrigerator; they can be useful, if infrequently; they are usually admired only by the people who created them.

While designers know that a user’s experience on a website has a large impact on the way that customer will interact with them, impressing that concept on the corporate establishment has taken a very long time. Trends in design are making their way into corporate web, albeit slowly; with patience and a little luck, businesses will soon start to consider carefully coded and appropriately functional design as important as their mission statement and recent sustainability reports.
