K. vs K. , Klout Vs. Kred el objetivo de ambos es conocer el nivel de influencia en las redes sociales. De la interpretación y análisis que podamos inferir a través de ellas podemos generar acciones de comunicación, con un grado de segmentación relativo en términos que se ajusta a la medición de una u otra herramienta.

De acuerdo a mi nivel de Influencia Digital (participación activa en medios y redes sociales) puedo obtener determinados PERKS (ventajas y beneficios).

Hace un tiempo, una línea aérea otorgó un PERKS a aquellos pasajeros que tenían determinado NIVEL DE INFLUENCIA, por encima de la media de 54 puntos / 100.

Es decir, mi cuenta de twitter me permitió un UPGRADE a de Turista a Primera Clase o una botella de Champagne de cortesía.

I’ve written a bit about influence online and it’s an area that really fascinates me. But when social media service Klout currently have Justin Bieber at the top of their top 20 list for influence, you have to wonder if this is pretty spot on, or if it actually means that influence is dead? I’m inclined to think, unfortunately, that influence is dead. That’s not to say that I don’t recognise the huge popularity that Bieber has online, but can you really classify him as more influential than Barack Obama? They shouldn’t really even be in the same list.

The first problem is how you define influence. Is it the power to make a ruling over one of the most powerful countries in the world (Obama) or the ability to encourage thousands of retweets of one your random thoughts (Bieber). If influence is to mean anything as social media progresses, then we need to seriously redefine the meaning. The problem doesn’t lie with Klout, who have developed one of the most sophisticated systems for determining influence, but rather in how we interpret influence and what it means today.

Why Tech Nerds Love Flying Virgin America

Last month, Virgin America teamed up with the online influence measurement company Klout to promote their new routes between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Toronto. The campaign offered free tickets to select influencers–with no strings attached. I spoke with Virgin America’s social media manager Jill Fletcher about managing an airborne viral campaign, how Virgin became the airline of choice for the nerd set, and the customer service challenges presented when everyone on board is connected.

How did the idea of giving influencers free flights for the new Virgin America Toronto leg come about?

We have a network of influencers who are very supportive of our brand. We have a close relationship with Jeff Pulver and Guy Kawasaki and Xeni Jardin who fly constantly and are always tweeting about us.

We saw the influencer program as a way to extend that network. We thought of it as an experiment to see what kind of reach we could get working with people outside of our existing relationships.

In addition to the flights being free, there was no demand for coverage, right?

Exactly. It was a new route and our first international destination so we wanted to spur trial and give people an opportunity to take a flight on Virgin America.
