Mutated Microsoft mouse spotted in the wild

STARR KESHET

A mutated Microsoft mouse – which bears a distinct resemblance to Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame – has been spotted scampering around a German online store.

According to Notebooksbilliger and Engadget, the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse arches its rather formidable hump for “comfortable” use, while packing flat for convenient transport.

The Quasimodo mouse also features touch-scrolling, a battery indicator, a 2.4GHz (USB) nano transceiver and the ability to track on most surfaces.

5 Ways Tumblr is Tapping Global Bloggers

New language themes

As of this week, Tumblr is offering its themes in five languages: English, German, Japanese, French, and Italian. The 3.1 million global page visitors that flock to the site each day will likely appreciate this development — Tumblr makes no small deal out of all its featured and premium designs for blog pages. The site even has compiled these designs into a “theme garden” where you can choose from almost 500 templates. The “Bus Full of Hippies” theme, for example, has drawn 46,560 users. Theme designers can also translate their text strings into any of these five languages on the site.

Open Innovation, Crowdsourcing Initiatives from Daimler

Germany-based Daimler, one of the biggest producers of premium cars – including Mercedes-Benz – and the world’s biggest producer of commercial vehicles has begun sniffing at open innovation.

Daimler’s “Open Innovation Network” is an initiative to allow their own employees as well as selected external partners to contribute with creative ideas that can lead to new products, services or technologies.

As it is still external, I cannot provide a link for this, but let us hope Daimler opens up even more. You can read more about the initiative in this German-language article.

Daimler also has a Business Innovation Community, a Web 2.0 platform on the Daimler intranet. Employees can post their ideas here – and their colleagues from other departments and regions can comment on them, rate them and further develop them. This initiative has generated more than 1200 ideas and one recent outcome was the Style Your Smart design contest. Leer más “Open Innovation, Crowdsourcing Initiatives from Daimler”
