Effective Tips for Tracking Social Media Trends

It is a fact that staying on top of the latest social media trends takes too much time. Also, most of us don’t have the time to do so effectively. After all, we’re busy with many other things like running our business or taking care of multiple SEO accounts.

So do you think tracking social media trends seems impossible?

Good thing is it’s still very possible. You just need to figure out an efficient way to keep track of social media trends. If this is one of your problems, here are the most effective ways to do it.

Use Flipboard

You can take care of tracking social media trends yourself and do it manually by spending a lot of time on your Facebook and Twitter account. However, if you want to avoid the problem of sorting through all the news and track social media trends easily, you can just use Flipboard.

A Flipboard is a magazine-style interface that can make the process a lot easier. According to social media experts, this is the future of social media trend spotting. The best thing about it is that it is very easy to use and the trends are displayed in the form of a digital magazine instead of the usual boring headline format.

I would like to include a few personal stories of enchantment in my next book. I am looking for examples of how people, products, services, organizations, ideas, or causes swept you off your feet. Specs: Written from your personal experience, not an external, academic view. 150-200 words Ideally, all the basics would be in your essay: who, what, when, why, and how. As an example, here is how something enchanted me: The second most enchanting moment of my life occurred in 1983 when Mike Boich showed me a Macintosh prototype. (The most enchanting moment was meeting my wife.) This life-changing…

Social News Curation: Simplifying or Adding to our Social Media Overload?

Social news curation is one of the latest social media tools to promise to make our online lives easier, more streamlined, and much more manageable. But does it live up to the hype? We take a detailed look at the top three social news curation tools to see whether they truly organize the news coming from our social networks, or just add another layer of logins, confused layouts, and information-overload to our social networking experience. Read on for the verdict on social news curation.

For those who have yet to experiment with these tools, social news curation is a service that gathers and displays all of the news happening on your social network. Two of the three social news curation services below focus on Twitter, pulling out links and displaying them for you in a newspaper format. The third accesses both Facebook and Twitter, and displays the media/news shared on these networks in a magazine format.

Twitter App for iPad Puts New Focus on Design

“Twitter for iPad takes advantage of the iPad’s fluid touch interface, letting you move lots of information around smoothly and quickly –- without needing to open and close windows or click buttons,” wrote Leland Rechis, a user interface designer at Twitter, in a company blog post.

People often use Twitter to share links, and one of the annoying things about the 140-character limit for messages is that links that have been shortened, using bit.ly and other services, do not offer any indication of where they will lead. That is something that Flipboard, another iPad app, is addressing by taking the links in a person’s Twitter and Facebook feeds and adding clips and photos from the linked articles.

Adding comment from Flipboard at the end.

Twitter has a new app for the iPad — and along with it, a new approach to design and usability.

Twitter has surprised its founders with how useful it has become to a wide variety of people — but the founders are also the first to admit that Twitter’s own Web site has not been the easiest, prettiest or most intuitive to use. “It’s amazing it’s grown so fast given how hard it is to use,” Twitter’s chief executive and co-founder, Evan Williams, said last spring.

The iPad app, introduced late Wednesday night, seems to be a big step toward fixing those problems and a new approach for Twitter, one that is all about ease of use and intuitive features. Continuar leyendo «Twitter App for iPad Puts New Focus on Design»

Why Flipboard Matters

e were the first big media source to cover Flipboard, and ever since that moment the iPad application has taken over the technology scene leaving many scratching their heads: what about this application is so special? Let’s take a moment to break down just what Flipboard is, why it is a big deal, and what it means for future media applications.

To begin, Flipboard is not finished or perfect. It has annoying feature holes, but like an unfinished painting you can see the bigger picture in the gaps. Flipboard needs, among other things, offline access, stronger posting capabilities for Facebook and Twitter, more pages per section, a ban button, and better controls to prevent repeat content. All that will be solved over the next several releases, it’s just a matter of time, so let’s put that aside.

Flipboard Launches as the iPad’s Social Media Magazine

With backing from several heavy hitters and an acquisition, Flipboard has kicked off its quest to become the new and vibrant way you browse your social media streams.

Flipboard, which is now available in the iPad app store, is a start-up that calls itself the “world’s first social magazine.” It connects to your social media accounts — primarily Facebook (Facebook) and Twitter (Twitter) — and utilizes that information to create an interface that will feel familiar if you’re a magazine lover. It officially launches today.

Flipboard takes popular news sources (specifically the ones you choose) as well as your Twitter and Facebook feed to provide to create a unique web browsing experience. Moving through the interface is a simple as flipping the page. Items shared on Facebook are suddenly turned into magazine articles and multimedia is immediately made front-and-center.
