Airline Will Seat Passengers Based On Their Moods

Airplane Passengers Mood

First, KLM announced it would allowpassengers to select seatmates via social media. Now, air Baltic is changing the game by offering passengers the ability to choose seatmates according to their mood, reports News.com.au.

Latvia’s national airline calls it the “SeatBuddy” system, and it will offer passengers three “flight moods” from which to choose, reports The Montreal Gazette. According to an airline press releasethose are: “work” for those who want to get something done; “business talk” for those who want to network; and “relax” for those who don’t want to deal with a chatty neighbor. Hobbies and interests will also be taken into account.

“We’re the first in the world to offer this,” air Baltic spokesman Janis Vanags, told News.com.au. He also mentioned that passengers would not be allowed to ban people from sitting with them.

Like a dating site, the free service collects passengers’ information in a database, which generates a match without revealing any private data.

The first “SeatBuddy” test flights will take off later this month.

Top 5 Reasons to Understand Your Customer’s Customer

huffingtonpost.com
http://huff.to/J9xHZT

The world is slowly climbing out of the great recession as companies around the world begin to increase investment and hiring. But for B2B sales teams looking to recapture growth during these early days, it’s critical to understand who’s really paying their bills and keeping the lights on — and guess what? It’s not your customer … it’s your customer’s customer. And if your sales team doesn’t deeply understand the business problems of these folks, then you’ll lose to competitors who do.

Before I get into the reasons why this is, consider some of the big, underlying changes happening in the market today. As companies start growing and investing again they are spending money, but they have fewer people than they had before. This means less time to accomplish key objectives and an even stronger focus on developing efficient strategies and processes to drive revenue growth ahead of the competition. As a result, they are changing the way they do business, innovating in the vertical integration of their product lines and socializing their go-to-market, because if they can innovate and out-execute the competition in the way they serve their customers they can gain more market share as spending comes back.

2012-05-10-1.png

To accomplish this, large companies are now talking about “business transformation” in their sales teams, “cultural transformation” in how they interface with their customers, and building a “social business” as a new way to look at their internal collaboration process. With all these trends, the end objective is the same: How to better solve their customer’s business problem and so gain market share.

And so how do you solve your customer’s problem? Well like you, their challenge is revenue, profit and market share. So when your sales team understands their customer’s customer — and the business dynamics, competition and growth opportunities that their customer has — magic happens.

Here are the top 5 reasons:

1. You can focus on the customer’s business problem, not your products

It’s a cliché, but a true one: your customers don’t buy products, they buy solutions. But you can’t sell them a true solution unless you know what problem they are trying to solve, and understanding their customers will give you the insight you need to hold a useful conversation with your customer.

If you pitch product you become a tactical vendor; if you can discuss their customer and how they are serving their customer you become a member of your customer’s team. For example, is their customer driving price down on them — and so is your opportunity to help them take cost out of their operating expenses? Or are they focused on revenue and end user growth — and can your solution help your customer reduce their time to market?

Understanding the customer’s problem is sales 101, right? But it is surprising how many sales people still pitch product. It’s essential you provide your sales team with the intelligence and systems to stay on top of the customer’s ever changing end-business problem (see #5). Scalado’s Remove Lets You Eliminate The People Who Ruined Your Photo

With Remove, imaging technology company Scaladobrings us one step closer to a world in which our photographs aren’t so much record of where we were as they are a representation of what we would have liked that place to be.

Remove is a photographic tool for smartphones thatallows for the ex post facto removal of errant moving objects — cars, people, tumbleweeds from smartphone photographs. Given the ease with which ex lovers can now be removed from your snapshots (or, more optimistically, the ease with which you can perfect that photo of your special someone),HuffPostTech’s Captain Gadget notes that having the technology debut on Valentine’s Day, of all days, is “pretty perfect.”

Hell is other people, in your pictures. Meandering strangers have been the bane of photography since people stopped painting their vacations and started photographing them.

With Remove, imaging technology company Scaladobrings us one step closer to a world in which our photographs aren’t so much record of where we were as they are a representation of what we would have liked that place to be.

According to DroidMatters, Remove works by taking multiple shots during each shutter click and using those frames to create a composite image in which only the stationary items are left, i.e. you still have your girlfriend smiling in front of the Taj Mahal, but you don’t have all of those tourists who were milling around her. Larry King, CNN Officially Split

Larry King and CNN are officially parting ways. The network announced on Wednesday that it has decided to end the “Larry King Specials.” King said he will now focus on other projects.

King, who is 78 years old, ended his 25-year role at the network as the host of prime time show “Larry King Live” in December 2010. CNN and King agreed that the famed interviewer would host four specials a year for CNN.

His specials thus far have focused on topics ranging from Alzheimer’s to an exclusive interview with Johnny Depp. His most recent special, “A Larry King Special: Dinner With the Kings,” aired in December. King’s last special made headlines as the broadcaster revealed that he would like to be frozen after his death.

According to the Los Angeles Times, King’s staff of four will likely be let go but may have the opportunity to reapply for new jobs at the network.

King’s show was replaced with “Piers Morgan Tonight,” an interview show hosted by British media personality, Piers Morgan.

Apple’s Siri May Soon Speak Japanese, Work On iPad 3 (RUMOR)

Apple says Siri will add Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Korean and Italian this year, but this “outing” is leading many to speculate that the Japanese capability will come very soon.

And that’s not all. On Tuesday, SlashGear reported that Siri may be available on the iPad 3, which is expected to be released on March 7.

The speculation comes from a new token that Apple has added to Siri rendering the application inoperable on devices other than the iPhone 4S. According to Apple, the app “works exclusively on iPhone 4S,” but many have jailbroken their iPhone and iPad devices to allow Siri to work. Siri Update

Siri’s got a big mouth.

The Apple news blog 9to5mac reportsthat Apple’s virtual assistant, which currently supports German, French and English, may inadvertently be outing herself as a Japanese speaker.

Indeed, when we asked Siri what languages she spoke, she told us she speaks “English, French, German and Japanese … so far,” and reminded us that we can change the language in the app’s settings. But there is no option there to switch it to Japanese.
