This is yet another way to measure popularity, fame, influence, status, etc., and Fan Page List has implemented this count on its site and we’ll show you some results after the jump.
The top ten ranked by number of lists is somewhat different than the top ten by total number of Twitter followers. Demi Lovato, CNN Breaking News and Selena Gomez appear when sorted by number of lists, but not when sorted by number of followers. On that list, they are replaced by Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey and John Mayer.
The differences in ranking may be telling of how lists are used on Twitter. It’s noteworthy that over 260 Twitter users have over a million followers, but only two show up on a user list more than 100,000 times. Social Times was told by Fan Page List that only public list counts are accessible.
Now that Lady Gaga has surpassed Britney Spears in Twitter followers, will she settle for second place in the list race? Will the public availability of this statistic cause a new Twitter list craze? We’ll see.
In the meantime, take a quick break from reading Social Times to check out our page on Fan Page List to get an idea of most — but not all — of the way brands and personalities are currently measured on the social net.
