To go offline or not to go offline? At Wix, we figured out the answer to this question long ago, and we’re proud to offer our users more and more opportunities to interact with us in the “real world”.
For us, getting in touch face-to-face with users from all over the world is such a great experience. We love coming up with new and creative ideas for meetups, events, classes and just fun time together. Here are some of the latest offline activities we had recently and some that are coming up real soon:
Professional Empowerment in the Bay Area
The Wix Lounge in San Francisco is one of two free co-working spaces Wix currently operates (we’ll tell you about the second one soon). It’s a place where you can walk in, enjoy free Wifi, grab a cup of Joe and do your work . It’s also a place where you can meet and chat with other Wix users to share experience and ideas.
The SF Lounge is a venture where Wix’ commitment to small businesses, freelancers, entrepreneurs, artists and digital creatives really comes to light. We’re organizing and hosting events that are all about empowering local professionals.
One of these events was the Academy of Art Photography held earlier in October, in which aspiring photographers got to showcase their work and interact with a large audience. The SF Lounge also offers classes on topics like Email Marketing, Web Design 101, and Social Media. We invite everyone in the area to join the learning experience!
One particularly great event that is coming up on October 26 is is the “Gain Your Freedom” meetup for freelancers. A panel of experts will be there to share their knowledge and experience about freelancing and answer questions like: How to secure jobs? Or how to promote freelance services? You’re cordially welcome to join us, please RSVP here.
Catch the Wix Bus in NYC
If you’ve been hanging out in New York lately, you may have seen the Wix Bus traveling across town. We like adding a touch of color to the streets, so we decided to get the Wix spirit on a few city buses and let them drive around and spread some fun.
It’s always a pleasure when New York-based users tell us that they’ve spotted our bus somewhere in the streets. If you happen to see the Wix Bus, take a picture with your phone camera and send it to community [at] wix [dot] com – we’ll treat you to a free Wix upgrade!
And while you’re on the Big Apple streets, make sure you visit the Wix Lounge NY! Whether we’re showcasing an amazing gallery or giving an “eCommerce secrets” class, good vibes and fun are also there.
Hint: You don’t want to miss out the Witches & Wix Halloween Party at the end of the month. Dress up, show up and you won’t regret it. Hopefully.
Wixin’ It, Brazil Style
Expanding our offline activities took us all the way to Carnival Nation, and now we don’t ever want to leave! After a couple of hugely successful meetups with the Brazilian Wix community, we decided to strengthen our relationship with this awesome country. That means there will be more workshops, more meetups, more parties and in general – more Wix in Brazil!
In case you missed the previous Brazil meetups, here’s a visual recap from the most recent meetups, where we discussed Wix themes like the HTML5 editor, building an online store and online marketing strategies. In between we also had a few coxinhas – deep-fried teardrop-shaped chicken croquettes. Yum.
If you’d like to check out Wix’ upcoming activities in Brazil, this is the place to go. We’ll be delighted to see you and we’re always willing to share our coxinhas, so to speak.
Tip: If you have a small business, we recommend you create some kind of an offline strategy that fits your line of business. It can be as simple as networking in conferences, getting a company sports team together or sponsoring relevant local events. Nothing equals an offline meetup with your clients – the energy, buzz and vibes will keep you going for many months ahead.
